INHSU International Prisons Hepatitis Network (INHSU Prisons) - Inaugural Annual Workshop 2019

Description: The INHSU International Prisons Hepatitis Network (INHSU Prisons) will be holding its inaugural annual workshop on Tuesday 10 September 2019, adjacent to INHSU 2019. The broad goal of the workshop is to bring together individuals interested in hepatitis care in custodial settings, to provide an overview of the current status of prison-based hepatitis C (HCV) testing and treatment services in key countries across the world, as well as showcase practical examples of strategies being used to increase HCV screening, linkage-to-care and treatment for the prisoner population. The workshop will feature keynote speakers, an interactive discussion activity designed to share key successes and challenges that are faced in the unique context of prisons, and an annual general meeting. The workshop will be followed by wine, cheese, and nibbles from 5pm – 6pm.

Project ECHO Workshop: A Comprehensive Introduction to the ECHO Model
Time and date: 10am-4pm, Tuesday 10 September 2019

Description: This pre-INHSU ECHO Workshop aims to provide a comprehensive introduction for those seeking to more fully understand the ECHO (Extension for Health Outcomes) model and impact of Project ECHO. Aimed at the expansion of service capacity and improvement of service delivery, Project ECHO links multidisciplinary specialist teams (hubs) with primary care teams (spokes) in local communities. Through interactive presentations and panel discussions with individuals leading HCV ECHO programs, the workshop will explore the practical considerations of launching and running a program. With 43 HCV ECHO programs worldwide, it will also highlight the range of settings that have successfully adopted the ECHO model. The workshop is organized through the collaboration of Coalition PLUS, the ECHO Institute (Karla Thornton), Project ECHO CHUM (Claire Wartelle-Bladou), ECHO Liver Ontario (Jordan Feld). Participation is free but registration (link below) is necessary. The event is made possible through the financial support of Unitaid.

INHSU 2019 Presents The Collaborative Forum: The Front-Line Reflections

Description: The Collaborative Forum: The Front-line Reflections will be held on Tuesday, September 10, at the Westin Montréal. The Forum (bilingual) is a satellite event of the research-oriented conference INHSU 2019 and aims to highlight the front-line response to issues relating viral hepatitis and substance use.
The Collaborative Forum is organized by the community, for the community in collaboration with seven Canadian harm reduction and community-based organizations.
Light breakfast and lunch will be provided to participants.

Le Forum Collaboratif est organisé par la communauté pour la communauté en collaboration avec sept organisations communautaires et de réductions de méfaits Canadiennes.

Making Connections: a networking event for new and senior investigators
Give your conference a kick-start with this two-hour ice-breaker session designed to help build connections between new and established researchers. The session will consist of networking workshop (graduate students / early career researchers only) followed by a mixer to facilitate informal and friendly conversations between participants and senior investigators.

5.30pm - 6.30pm: Networking, a great way to develop professional connections and promote our careers
In this fun and interactive workshop, participants will learn tips and tricks to approach peers, establish professional relationships, and build long-term networks while attending a scientific conference. The workshop will be facilitated by Inès Mahjoub, a career coach and speaker experienced in helping professionals sharpen their networking skills.
6.30pm - 7.30pm: Mix & Mingle Career Fair, New and Senior Investigators
This session is an opportunity for early-career and senior researchers to connect and discuss their projects and work in a casual setting.
Senior Investigators, if you are interested in recruiting students for your research team, this is an excellent opportunity to meet candidates!
